Answer on Ms. Nash’s question.

Posted by ivana in Uncategorized

People in the Middle Ages who went on the Crusades were often prepared to give up their lives for a cause they believed in.  Are there any modern-day issues which inspire people to act like this? Explain in detail your answer to this question.

I think that the king inspired them by telling them that he would make the lives better of the people who would survive, and he promised the people who would die, that they would go to heaven. The thoughts of that inspired them, because they thought it was true. I don’t really know of the king really made the lives, of the people who survived, better. However, I do know that the king couldn’t promise that the people who would die would definately go to heaven, because he doesn’t even know if heaven really exsists. So that’s my answer on that question. :)

Comment on Kim’s current event!!

Posted by ivana in Uncategorized

The issue is that there are floods in Jakarta, Indonesia. There are also a lot of people involved. Over 50.000 people are involved. Kim explained this very well, so that the people in the class would understand it better. The people also got sick because of it and that’s not good because it affects the  people in Jakarta and maybe people who don’t live in Jakarta. That was also good explained by Kim.

The interesting thing about this was that I learned something. I would never know that there were floods in Jakarta, and i know it because of Kim. Also the way that Kim explained it to us was very good. It got stuck in my head for some reason. She also answered our questions which was good. The way that she compared a adult with the hight of the water in Jakarta was also a very good idea.

Something I want to say to Kim:

Hey Kim. Your presentation was very good. You also had enough information about the floods in Jakarta. The picture that shows how deep it is comparing to a adult was a good idea. I didn’t know that if something like that would happen that every person in that country would be affected. You told us in your presentation that all the people in Jakarta are affected. However, you said that you would set up help stations if you would have the power to change it, but there are a lot of help stations already. So I don’t really think that it would help more. The rest of your presentation and your information was good because I learned from it.

A family crosses a flooded street in Jakarta

Thousands of homes in the capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta are under water after heavy rains overnight caused serious floods.

Residents fled to higher floors as up to a metre of water through the streets and homes, also causing traffic chaos in the city of more than 10 million people.

The deluge sparked fears of a repeat of flooding early last year in Jakarta and surrounding areas, which killed more than 60 people and forced around 300,000 from their homes.

About the Religion in the Middle Ages.

Posted by ivana in Uncategorized

Hello. Now I’m about to tell you what I have learned about the religion in the middle ages. The people who lived in the Middle Ages mostly believed in Christianity. So they believed in everything what Jesus Christ said. Religion was very important to the Middle Age people. Especially to the monks and friars. Monks and friars were people who worked in the church. They also have a scedule, which they have to follow every day. They don’t sleep a lot, they mostly read, prey, and work in the church. That’s what the monks did. Monks were similar to friars, but friars were more poor. Monks had to live in Monasteries, which are near the church. They helped sick people and prayed for god. So religion was very important to the Monks, friars, priests, pope’s and much more people from the Middle Ages.

Here is the scedule of the monks:

  • 1.45 a.m - Wake up.

  • 2.00 a.m - read and prey.

  • 3.30 a.m - church service.

  • 4.00 a.m - sleep (only in the summer)

  • 5.00 a.m - church service.

  • 6.00 a.m - read and prey.

  • 7.00 a.m - church service.

  • 8.00 a.m - work.

  • 9.15 a.m - church service.

  • 11.15 a.m - work.

  • midday - Church service.

  • 1.00 p.m - meal.

  • 1.45 p.m - read and prey.

  • 2.45 p.m - sleep. (only in the summer)

  • 3.00 p.m - church service.

  • 5.45 p.m - work.

  • 6.00 p.m - meal.

  • 7.15 p.m - church service.

  • 7.45 p.m - read and prey.

  • 8.00 p.m - sleep.

What I have learned about the Middle ages.

Posted by ivana in Uncategorized

We have learned a little poem, it’s called: “ring o ring o roses”. A lot of little kids sing it now, but it means something different than what the class thought. It has to do something with war. The first sentence had to do something with a disease. It looked like small red dots, just like roses. Then, a pocket full of posies meant that they had posies, some kind of flowers, in their pockets against the diseases. “Tisha, tisha” meant sneezing (because of the disease), and we all fall down means people who were dead, and lying on the ground.
