The crusades were a series of religious wars. They began in 1095 and ended in about 1292. They were wars between people who believed in the Christian religion and people who believed in the Muslem religion. The took place in the Holy Land, which is called Israel. In those days, Christians liked to visit the Holy Land. They wanted to see the places where Jesus Christ had lived.
